We are honoured to be hosted five remarkable women whose careers span the full breadth of technology,from community development to power generation, digital strategy to product delivery, and the very telecoms infrastructure that keeps Kenya connected. Each brings a distinct lens to our conversation.

Dr. Njeri Ngaruiya is an ICT4D consultant and lecturer at Strathmore University, holding a PhD in Information Systems from the University of Nairobiwith over more than a decade, she has designed and implemented technology solutions that work not in theory, but in the communities that need them most: low-income settings spanning health, education, agriculture, and financial inclusion, with a particular focus on women and older adults. Njeri approaches technology through the lens of design thinking and human-centred methodology, asking not just what a system can do, but who it truly serves.

Eng. Nelly Kosgei(PE) is a Principal Electrical Engineer at Kenya Electricity Generating Company (KenGen) with over thirteen years of hands-on experience in power generation, geothermal systems, and industrial electrical engineering. Her expertise spans the installation, commissioning, and maintenance of some of the most demanding electrical systems in East Africa, including Siemens AC and DC drives, high-capacity switchgear, and variable speed drives. Registered as a Proffesional Engineer with both the Engineers Board of Kenya and the Institution of Engineers of Kenya, Nelly brings to this panel the grounded perspective of an engineer who works where the power actually comes from and who understands, at a deep technical level, what reliability truly means.

Zainabu Muti holds an MSc in Information Technology and works as a lecture at the School of Engineering and Computing Sciences. Zainabu brings the essential bridge between technological possibility and market reality the discipline of understanding not just what technology can do, but how it finds its audience, builds its relationships, and creates sustainable value. Her work is a reminder that the most elegant technical solution still has to reach people to matter.

Jully Kyambi Mutia is a Graduate trainee at Schneider Electric with experience in Technical Project Management and a degree in telecommunications engineering and experience across fintech and data-driven systems. Jully is the kind of professional who speaks fluently in both the language of engineers and the language of business. She is passionate about building scalable solutions and believes that process excellence and human impact are not in tension: they reinforce each other.

Maureen Chepkemoi is a Transmission Engineer at Safaricom PLC which means she works inside the infrastructure that connects Kenya. As a young professional in one of the continent's most impactful telecommunications networks, Maureen combines strong technical foundations with the communication skills and relationship-building instincts that make complex systems actually function across organisations. She represents a generation of women engineers who are not waiting for a seat at the table they are already building the table.
