IEEE CS Schenectady Chapter Tech Tour: Cybersecurity Labs & Innovation Hub at UAlbany ETEC
Join the IEEE Schenectady Computer Society for an exclusive, in-person technical tour of the University at Albany's landmark ETEC complex. This state-of-the-art $180 million, 246,000-square-foot facility serves as an innovation epicenter designed for cross-disciplinary collaboration in emerging technologies.
ETEC is home to the nation’s first College of Emergency Preparedness, Homeland Security and Cybersecurity (CEHC). On this guided tour, our group will dive deep into ETEC’s advanced Cybersecurity program areas and research labs.
We are honored to have the tour hosted by Michael R. Baumgardner, PhD (Assistant Dean for Public Engagement & Enrollment) alongside Kushma Panchal (Cybersecurity student). They will guide us through modern instructional environments and specialized research spaces driving innovation in threat detection, cyber defense, and network security operations. Depending on availability, select cybersecurity faculty members will also be on hand to discuss their ongoing research labs and answer specific technical questions.
Space is strictly limited to 35–40 participants, so early registration is highly encouraged.

Highlights of the facility also include the xCITE Lab (complex data visualization) and a spectacular 6-foot "Science-on-a-Sphere" globe tracking real-time global data trends.
