Signal Detective: Exploring the Hidden World of Electronics and Instrumentation
Electrical signals are everywhere — in your phone, your earpiece, the LED that blinks, and the remote control you use to change channels. Engineers use a tool called an oscilloscope to actually see these signals — and most students go through years of electrical engineering without ever touching one.
Signal Detective is a 3-day, hands-on workshop where you'll pick up a real oscilloscope, connect a microphone or a TV remote to it, and watch electricity in real time. No lectures, no prior electronics knowledge needed — just curiosity.
Day 1 — The Shape of Electricity: Meet the oscilloscope, generate sine/square/triangle waves, and learn to take real measurements.
Day 2 — Seeing the Invisible: Turn sound, light, and even your own body into waveforms on screen. Includes the famous Finger Snap Challenge.
Day 3 — Decoding the World Around Us: Point a TV remote at an IR sensor and decode how devices "talk" to each other — capped off by the Signal Detective Grand Challenge.
You can attend any single day and still walk away with a complete experience. Digital certificates provided to all participants.
