Build With AI: A hands-on workshop from concept to functional app
Build with AI: From Concept to Functional App was a hands-on technical workshop organized by IEEE Computer Society MUET Student Branch Chapter in collaboration with the IEEE CS SYP OU Engagement Committee, under the guidance of Dr. Sanam Narejo, Faculty Advisor, IEEE CS MUET SBC, and Chairperson, Department of Computer Systems Engineering, MUET. The event was conducted from 11:00 AM to 2:30 PM and focused on practical AI-assisted software development. The session began with an introduction to CS SYP and an overview of the workshop objectives and tools, including ChatGPT Plus/Codex and Antigravity. Participants were assigned unique real-world client problems and guided on interpreting vague requirements and converting them into structured Product Requirements Document (PRD) prompts. They then used their PRDs to initiate projects in Antigravity/Codex, learned prompt and plan modes, and built functional applications with live instructor guidance and troubleshooting. The workshop further covered auditing AI-generated applications, identifying UI/UX and functional issues, and using prompts to debug and improve designs. Participants subsequently rebuilt their applications as mobile apps using React Native and Expo Go and ran them live on their smartphones through QR-code-based testing. The event concluded with a recap of the complete workflow from problem identification and PRD creation to AI-assisted development, auditing, debugging, and mobile deployment, along with a discussion on applying these skills to real freelance and client projects.
