Everyone is welcome.

Hosted by the IEEE Ottawa AP/MTT Joint Chapter in collaboration with the IEEE Carleton University Student Branch (OU SB02451).

Despite the opportunities in microwave and electromagnetics, many researchers and engineers hesitate to pursue entrepreneurial ventures because of technical complexity, limited market awareness, and the challenge of connecting innovation with business strategy. This seminar is for young professionals, early-career engineers, and graduate students exploring careers beyond academia.

Dr. Vishal Balasubramanian will discuss how lab research can become scalable products: identifying industry needs, developing proof-of-concept prototypes, finding funding, building a business model, and commercializing ideas. Real-world examples will offer practical insights into connecting academic research with industry demand.
