​Executive committee meeting of IEEE UP Section CIS Chapter was held on 12th April 2016, at 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM at ACES-107 Building, Dept. Electrical Engineering, IIT Kanpur.

Agenda for the meeting was as follows
1) Ratification of the minutes of last meeting.
2) Discussion on the request to organize the International Conference with Co-association of IEEE Uttar PradeshSection CIS Chapter.
3) Any other item

Welcome: Secretary, Dr. Nishchal K. Verma welcomed all the members present at the meeting.
 

Agenda Item #1:Ratification of minutes of the previous meeting.

The minutes of previous meetings were read by the secretary. Chairman raised the question about MOU procedure as in last meeting it was discussed which were answered by the secretary.

Action Item: It was adopted anonymously by all present members.   

 
Agenda Item #2:Discussion on the request to organize the International Conference ICMETE-2016

Discussion: It was reported as per the secretary suggestion an email was sent to the organizers to present proposal with all details in executive committee to be held on 12th April, 2016. None of the member was presented.

Action Item: With consent of all members it was decided not to consider the request as it was not presented.

 

Agenda Item #3: Report of membership Drive at IEEE WCI 2015.

 

Discussion: Student representative Mr. Rahul Sevakula presented a summary report of the membership drive conducted at IEEE WCI 2015. He reported that drive was conducted in two phase as mentioned below.

Phase 1 – Awareness about CIS chapter, benefits of membership via seminar

Phase 2 – Student level competition

An exciting competition was conducted where problem statement was the design of a robot that fills potholes in a Metropolitan City. Around 15 students participated in it. Dr. Nishchal K. Verma and Dr. Saumya R. Sahoo served as the judges. The competition was held as part of IEEE CIS Membership drive at IEEE WCI 2015 conference held at IIT Kanpur. It was unanimously agreed by the judges that Mr. Bodhibrata Mukhopadhyay and Mr. Subhra Sarkar from IIT Delhi be declared as the winners. The winners shall be given a certificate to acknowledge this achievement. Additionally each of them will be given a sponsorship amounting to USD 15, for 1 year subscription of Student Member grade membership in IEEE Computational Intelligence Society.  

Agenda Item #4: Any other item

1)  Suggestion by chairman to connect students from other colleges so that they can explore its benefits and CIS can be reached to more people. It was also suggested to give some positions to these members. Mr. Sevakula suggested if possible manifesto can be invited. Dr. Verma suggested to plan for an easy and formal procedure so that more people can easily be associated with the chapter.

2)  It was decide to have a coordinator for conducting the CIS Awareness Program. Main idea is to conduct regular programs in colleges and membership drives. It will help others to contact coordinator to directly answer quries of new comers.
