[Legacy Report] Executive Committee Meeting
The Executive Committee Meeting was held at 107, ACES Building, Dept. of Electrical Engineering, IIT Kanpur from 06:15 PM to 07:30 PM.

Welcome and Announcements:
Chairman and Secretary both welcomed all the members present in the meeting.
Agenda Item #1: Ratification of minutes of the previous meeting.
The minutes of previous meeting were read by the Secretary and were adopted unanimously.
Agenda Item #2: Announcement of IEEE WCI 2017
Secretary announced that preparation for the IEEE WCI 2017 has been started. Tentative date for workshop will be in 1st week of December. He requested all members to come forward for the event and suggest if they have any good plan.
Agenda Item #3: Announcement of upcoming IEEE CIS lecture
Secretary informed that an IEEE CIS lecture will be held in Kanpur Institute of Technology, Kanpur on 23rd Feb, 2017. The lecture will be delivered by Prof. Dr. A. K. Deb, Dept. of EE, IIT Kharagpur on “Virtual Labs”. He also thanked Dr. Brajesh Varshney for providing their resources for conducting the event. Dr. Varshney informed that he will provide hospitality and travel facility to the experts during the event.
Agenda Item #4: Discussion on publicity of IEEE UP Section CIS Chapter Awards
Secretary asked suggestions for increasing the no. of nominations for the award. Mr. Rahul K. Sevakula suggested publicizing the chapter awards at large scale. It would also help to increase the number of CIS memberships. Secretary also suggested to not limit the award circulation only for IEEE CIS members.
Agenda Item #5: Discussion on IEEE UP Section CIS Chapter Awards.
Discussion: It was reported that no other nomination was received except the following:
1) Distinguished Researcher in the Area of CIS Award (From Academia):
Dr. Nishchal K. Verma, Associate Professor, Dept. of EE, IIT Kanpur
Dr. Gyanendra K. Verma, Assistant Professor, Dept. of CSE, NIT Kurukshetra
2) Distinguished Researcher in the Area of CIS Award (From Industry):
Sri Vidhu Agarwal, President, Synergy Systems and Solutions
3) Young Researcher in the Area of CIS (From Student Community):
Abhishek, PhD Student, Dept. of EE, IIT BHU
Since two nominations were received from academia for the Distinguished Researcher Award category, therefore, to take the decision discussion was held among the executive committee members. Dr. Nishchal K. Verma voluntarily left the meeting for the discussion as he was also one of the nominees. On the basis of research contribution and development, Dr. Nishchal K. Verma was decided the awardee for Distinguished Researcher in the Area of CIS Award (From Academia). In rest two categories only single nominations were received, therefore it was decided to give award to the nominees subject to their CIS membership status.
Action Item: Withthe consent of all executive committee members final award list is as follows.

It was decided to first ensure the membership status of these nominees and they will be informed about the decision of the awards. As per the process, they will be requested to send their CV and contribution in area of Computational Intelligence. Awards will be distributed during next upcoming.
