Welcome and Announcements:

Chairman, Vice Chairman and Secretary both welcomed all the members present in the meeting.

Agenda Item #1: Ratification of minutes of the previous meeting.

Discussion: The minutes of the previous meeting was read by Prof. Nishchal K. Verma, Vice Chairman, and with the consent of all present members minutes were approved.

 

Agenda Item #2: IEEE CIS membership promotional activity events.

Discussion: On the behalf of present members, Vice Chairman announced and appreciated that the chapter has taken a great step towards IEEE CIS membership promotional activity.

The IEEE CIS membership drive and expert lecture as a promotional activity event was held at Kanpur Institute of Technology, Kanpur, India on November 16th, 2018. The expert lecture was meant for awareness regarding benefits of IEEE CIS membership and guidelines. The interactive session with executive committee members during this promotional activity results in several interested students for becoming a member which made this event successful.

The discussion was followed by the venue of next promotional activity event to be held in India. Prof. Verma, Vice Chairman, Mr. Sujeet Mishra, Secretary and Prof. Varshney, Convener, CIS Student Activities proposed some suggestions for the venue such as, IIT BHU (Varanasi), India, IET Lucknow, India, Amity University, Greater Noida, ABES Ghaziabad, India, etc. The objective of these events is to aware and attract researchers for IEEE CIS.

Action Item: The venue of next promotional activity event is to be decided.

 

Agenda Item #3: Industrial Visit for the Students.

Discussion: Mr. Sujeet Mishra, Secretary proposed that an industrial visit for the interested students in IEEE CIS may be planned for real-time exposure and awareness.

Action Item: The further possibilities and updates will be communicated shortly.

 

Agenda Item #4: Summer School to be held in December 2018.

Discussion: The summer school entitled “2018 IEEE CIS Summer School on Deep Learning and Computational Intelligence” (Webpage: http://www.iitk.ac.in/idea/IEEECISSS2018/) is to be held during December 5-7, 2018 at Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur, India.

As per the Agenda Item #3 of meeting held on August 12th, 2018, a query email has been sent to IEEE CIS for changing the name of the event as “Winter School” instead of “Summer School”. Prof. Verma announced that there was no suggestion or communication from IEEE CIS regarding the change in name of the event. Hence, it has been renamed as “Summer/ Winter School” instead of “Summer School”. Prof. Verma also requested everyone to actively participate in the School going to be held at Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur, India.
