Nayatel Seminar
Wahaj us Siraj is CEO and co-founder of Naya Tel (Pvt) Ltd., which has installed Pakistan's first fiber to the home (FTTH) project in Islamabad in 2006-07 to provide voice, video and high-speed Internet access to business and home users.
Before Nayatel’s launch, Wahaj co-founded Micronet Broadband (Pvt) Ltd., the first one to launch broadband Digital Subscribers Line (DSL) services in Pakistan in 2002. Wahaj has vast experience in Internet and telecom industry and worked with the Government of Pakistan at policy making level. Wahaj is a founder member of ISPAK (Internet Service Providers Association of Pakistan) and has been a strong activist for reforms in Pakistani IT and Telecom industry.
The main aim of this guest lecture was to motivate the youth to not only rely on jobs and think about the problems of society and by solving those problems they can have their own startups.
Wahaj Siraj start his professional life after having Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering after that he persuade his carrier in most trending field i.e Renewable energy resources by having Master degree.
He served in government organization for 15 years but he realized that this is not the ultimate source for growing up so he started looking into startups and business idea and started his carrier in networking by installing DSL system in PTV headquarter Islamabad, Pakistan.
Proper session started in a very friendly environment by the question by the chief guest as “what you people want to hear?”. A question arises about the job opportunities in the market, so he replied in a very friendly way that job is not only way to excel in life, but it’s easy to get a job with good and positive attitude towards your profession in a complete discussion he told that an enthusiastic attitude to do something can lead you to do much more in life rather to live a life from 6:00 AM to 6:00PM, Life is limitless so don’t waste it for working up to 60’s and then spend rest of it on couch reading tea and having retired status
He give some of his life example and demonstrate about the benefits of having startup and how multinational companies like apple, and Microsoft started.
He strongly believes that having degree cannot specify your rest of life an engineer can do lot of other things rather then technical works. He strongly believe that an engineer can be a good manager, or a legal advisor or he could do marketing or graphic and logo designing. Pursuing a passion in which you have interest is much batter then then adopting profession assigned to you on bases of your knowledge or given to you by your forefathers.
Besides this he also share some of his secret to excel in his business like caring for your employees so that they could care for your costumers much better.
To conclude we can say it was a good activity for students to get them know about the benefits of startups and by letting them watch by themselves through the word of CEO’s and founder os such a tech giant like nayatel.
