Talk On Career Guidance
On this auspicious day, we had with us an admirable group of speakers Prof.Padmakumar Nair, Prof. V.K. Damodaran, Dr.Ripneet Singh and Mr..Hari. A lecture on “Career 4.0” by Prof.Padmakumar Nair,Director and Dean Thapa Institute of Engineering and Technology Campus Thapar School of Management).
This session was open to both IEEE and Non-IEEE members.Just like how the invention of steam engine eliminated most jobs requiring speed and raw muscle power, electricity and automation eliminated jobs requiring repetition and precision. AI connected with Internet of Things and expert systems will replace most jobs requiring making and pattern identification based on large data. In this talk, we explore ideas for preparing ourselves for the jobs where AI and deep learning systems are not
capable of doing.
This session mostly dealt with how to be in a profession.Such an enlightenment is necessary since automation is overtaking each and every field and the only option left behind is collaborative thinking. Hence we should have or develop the corresponding skills to enter into the industry. The talk was followed by questionnaire from the students.That was indeed one of the more interesting parts of the session.
As a token of gratitude, the speaker Prof. Padmakumar Nair was presented with a momento by Mr.Nandan S. who was our branch counsellor in the previous year.The entire session was successfully coordinated by the execom members of IEEE SB LBSITW.
