IEEE Spokane is proud  to augment its co-sponsorship of the upcoming community 5G Wireless Forum with a featured presentation by IEEE Fellow and electromagnetics specialist, Dr Robert Olsen.  This talk will present a balanced discussion of the new 5G wireless landscape, together with current widely discussed issues in the 5G area.  The talk, as a continuation of the ongoing IEEE Spokane series in RF technology, will include an informative profile of the technology itself, as well as an up-to-date discussion of work on related safety standards, including the recent considerations of the 28-member International Commission on Non-Ionizing Radiation Protection (ICNIRP) Scientific Expert Group.

The Speaker:

Dr. Robert Olsen, currently Professor Emeritus of Electrical Engineering at Washington State University, has also served as an Associate Dean of the WSU College of Engineering and Architecture.  He is an IEEE Fellow and an Honorary Life member of the IEEE Electromagnetic Compatibility Society, as well as past Associate Editor of the IEEE Transactions on Electromagnetic Compatibility and Radio Science.  Dr. Olsen holds a BS degree from Rutgers University and MS and PhD degrees from the University of Colorado, all in electrical engineering.
