Senior Member Drive
This is the first of several meetings to provide an opportunity to meet (virtually) some of our new applicants for Senior Member elevation. We will meet with the first four applicants on Tuesday evening, June 2nd. They are all very well qualified, but need assistance finding IEEE members who can serve as references. (Everyone is welcome to attend the meeting, but only Senior Members, Life Senior Members, Fellows, Life Fellows, and Honorary Members can serve as references for Senior Member elevation.) The applicants will be available to tell the participants in the meeting about the work that they have been doing and to answer questions. IEEE does not require that you know the applicants personally in order to serve as a reference, only that you have learned enough about their background to say that they meet the requirements for Senior Member status. (The requirements for Senior Member status can be found at https://www.ieee.org/membership/senior/senior-requirements.html.) This is an excellent way to get to know the other members in our Section. Each time that I have participated in one of these events, I have been truly impressed with the work that our Section members are involved in. This meeting will be held via Webex. Please register for the meeting in order to receive the Webex link and password along with the information on the applicants. If you are not available for the meeting on June 2nd, but are interested in future meetings with our Senior Member candidates, please send an email to allen.jones@ieee.org so that I can make sure to include you in future invitations.
