Space Weather and Geomagnetic Disturbances as it relates to the Power System
This is an online class on Space Weather and Geomagnetic Disturbances. The class will touch on magnetometer and GIC data requirements as set forth in the NERC Standard TPL-007-3 – Transmission System Planned Performance for Geomagnetic Disturbance Events, the status of the NERC GMD task force, and similar related topics. The class is being arranged by members of the Florida Reliability Coordinating Council, the Orlando IEEE PES/IAS/PEL Chapter and the Florida West Coast Section of IEEE.
Speakers include
- Bill Murtagh, Program Coordinator for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Space Weather Prediction Center (SWPC)
- Dr. Antti Pulkkinen, Deputy Director of the Heliophysics Science Division at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center
- Emanuel Bernabeu, Director Applied Innovation & Analytics, PJM Interconnection
