Tour of Santee Cooper Jefferies Hydro Generating Plant

The Coastal South Carolina Section is pleased to announce our first Section event for 2014. The event will consist of a tour of the Jefferies hydro power plant in Moncks Corner, SC on March 7th, 2014, followed by lunch.

The meeting time will be 10:30 AM at the Jefferies Generating Station Guard Shack at 463 Powerhouse Rd., Moncks Corner, SC 29461. You will be required to wear PPE which will be provided.

We will then walk as a group over to the hydro plant. The visit will start with a presentation, followed by the tour. This should be an especially interesting tour. Hydro Units 2 and 4 are currently being overhauled, so you should be able to see some 1930’s/1940’s generator technology up close.

After the tour, we will travel by POV to Gilligan’s At-The-Dock in Moncks Corner for lunch.

The cost will be $10.00 per person for members and guests and $5.00 per person for Electrical or Computer Engineering students. Lunch at Gilligan’s is included.

Members, guests, and students are requested to arrive at the Guard Shack at 10:30 AM.
