The 5G mmWave Channel Model Alliance in collaboration with the IEEE VT-S Propagation Committee, the Canadian National Committee of the International Union of Radio Science, and IEEE Vancouver Joint Aerospace and Electromagnetics Chapter is organizing our fourth Fall Workshop on Millimeter-Wave Channels and Systems to be held in conjunction with the IEEE VTC 2020-Fall conference.

This workshop will take place at 10:00 – 12:30 ET / 7:00 – 8:30 PT on Wednesday, 25 November 2020. It will focus on the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) and feature presentations on the following topics:

  • Recent channel measurement and modeling activities supporting 3GPP’s Indoor Industrial scenario that targets frequencies from 0.5 - 100 GHz
  • Description of channel characteristics in need of improved understanding (dense multipath components)
  • Short range and intra-machine communications up to 300GHz

The meeting will be organized into four 15-minute presentations, each followed by a 10-15-minute question and answer period. The speakers who will be presenting during this workshop are:

  • Henrik Asplund (Ericsson): “Perspectives on the Indoor Factory channel model in 3GPP”
  • Dr. Taro Eichler (Rohde & Schwarz): “Channel Measurements in Industrial Environments”
  • Mohamed Hany (NIST): “A Machine Learning Approach for Exemplar Channel Extraction in High-Multipath Environments”
  • Prof. Dr.-Ing. Thomas Kürner (TU Braunschweig): “Channel Modeling for Ultra-high Data-Rate Point-to-Point Links at 300 GHz”
