Project management is the process of leading the work of a team to complete a project.

Projects are temporary endeavors designed to produce a unique product, service or result with a defined beginning and end; and undertaken to meet unique goals and objectives, typically to bring about beneficial business change or added value.

Based on these definitions, it is evident that Engineers are perfectly suited to become project managers because engineering is defined as the use of scientific principles to design and build projects: machines, structures and other products and services utilizing both applied mathematics and applied science.

Careers in project management are plentiful when one notes it is also a transferable skill outside of Engineering.

Other industries that use project management include construction, manufacturing, architecture, and real estate development.

Project managers also work in finance, information technology, and internet companies, where they coordinate the development and implementation of new applications or manage new site launches.
