Annual Air Force Academy ECE Senior Capstone Project Review on May 7
WHAT: Annual Air Force Academy ECE Senior Capstone Project Review on May 7
DESCRIPTION: It’s that time of year—the annual Air Force Academy ECE Capstone Open House. On Wednesday, May 7, 2014, at 4:30 PM the Pikes Peak Section of the IEEE will meet at the Air Force Academy to participate in the Senior Capstone Project Review which is sponsored annually by the ECE Department. Senior Cadets in Electrical/Computer Engineering and other engineering disciplines will display and describe the projects that they have developed.
Our section will provide pizza and awards for the event.
We also typically designate 3-5 IEEE section members judge the projects and then select the top three based on how well the group/project met certain criteria. We will later create plaques for First, Second and Third places to be displayed at the Academy IEEE Student Branch office.
SCHEDULE: Below is the schedule:
4:30-5:00 - IEEE members arrive
5:00-6:10 – Project Viewing/Presentations to IEEE Guests/Judging
6:10-6:45 - Dinner & Deliberations
6:45-7:00 – Awards
REGISTRATION: IEEE members, their high school age students and guests are invited to attend. In the past, we’ve encouraged members to bring high school students, particularly if they are interested in attending the Academy—this is an excellent opportunity to see some exciting projects and meet with future engineers/military leaders.
Registration is required for everyone, including IEEE members, and their students and guests in order for us to obtain the list of names for access. Members can register their students and guests by emailing Dr. Debora Elem at
Again, we will need the names of volunteers/attendees by May 2nd so we can finalize access lists, etc.
WHERE: The event will be at Fairchild Hall on the Academy grounds. Fairchild Hall is in the Cadet Area and thus more restricted. You may be required to surrender your driver’s license at the Cadet Area Gate and retrieve it when leaving. Visitor badges may be issued at the gate.
Due to access processing you MUST allow approximately 20 minutes to process from the outer main base gates through security prior to reaching Fairchild Hall!
We will be met at 4:15 to 4:30 pm in the parking area to the East of Fairchild. Please be on time!
REQUEST FOR VOLUNTEER: I am looking for a volunteer who will be able to participate and organize things the day of the event—I will be returning from a conference in D.C. that day and will likely not be back in time, unfortunately. I will still be able to coordinate and answer questions prior to the event and assist up until the event itself.
Thanks
