The Cell Phone is Transforming Humanity
Abstract: Most of the people in the world now use cell phones and most of them are benefitting. But the cell phone as we know it today almost didn’t happen. Martin Cooper will talk about the regulatory battle between the largest company in the world and an upstart company that refused to yield to monopoly power. Mr. Cooper will relate how applications in emerging countries are presaging enhancements in cell phone technology that promise to revolutionize education, healthcare, and collaboration. He will offer his prediction of how the cell phone will evolve in the future from a flawed technology to valuable enhancement of human progress.
