Abstract

The OpenADR Alliance was created to standardize, automate, and simplify Demand Response (DR) and Distributed Energy Resources (DER) to enable utilities and aggregators to cost-effectively manage growing energy demand & decentralized energy production, and customers to control their energy future. OpenADR is an open, highly secure, and two-way information exchange model and Smart Grid standard. This presentation will provide the audience with an introduction to the OpenADR standard and how it enables secure communications between control systems and the energy service providers.

We will walk through the history and basic functionality of the protocol and then proceed to review different control strategies. The presentation will end with several common use cases from industrial to residential controls and a Q&A.

• The webinar is free for active IEEE members. 
• There is a $10 registration fee for people who are not active IEEE members.

• Incomplete non-member registrations (payment not received) will be deleted.
• A link to the WebEx registration will be sent to the email address you provided during this vTools registration, on March 01st, by "IEEE Northern Alberta".  Please double check the spelling of your email address when registering.
