Emerging Technologies in Autonomous Systems & Smart Networks
In this presentation, emerging technologies that are driving the 4th Industrial Revolution and Industry 4.0 are described, and the influence of these technologies on newly emerging autonomous systems and smart networks will be introduced. Some examples on currently ongoing research and development for future consumer products and services will be presented as examples.
Background
The Sydney Technical Series is a NSW joint Chapter (CT/BT/PSES) activity, the aims to present high quality presentations by globally renown speakers. As travel is not possible due to COVID, the series of talks will be held online. The NSW Chapter is working with all Region 10 chapters and is providing access of the live and recorded presentation to all R10 members.
In total ten presentations are planned in this series for 2021. The first presentation is by Professor Chung, from Yonsei University, South Korea. Professor Chung has an active research program where he contributes regularly to Samsung and LG amongst other companies. His presentation on “Emerging Technologies in Autonomous Systems & Smart Networks” will be highly interesting and informative.

Jong-Moon Chung
Biography:
Jong-Moon Chung received B.S. and M.S. degrees in electronic engineering from Yonsei University and Ph.D. in electrical engineering from the Pennsylvania State University. Since 2005, he has been a professor in the School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering at Yonsei University, where he is also the Associate Dean of the College of Engineering and professor in the Department of Emergency Medicine within the College of Medicine at Yonsei University (Seoul, South Korea). From 1997 to 1999, he was an assistant professor and instructor at the Pennsylvania State University in the Department of Electrical Engineering. From 2000 to 2005, he was with the Oklahoma State University (OSU) as a tenured associate professor in the School of Electrical & Computer Engineering. Currently he is a Vice President of the IEEE Product Safety Engineering Society (PSES) and the IEEE Consumer Technology Society (CTSoc), Editor of the IEEE Transactions on Vehicular Technology, Associate Editor of the IEEE Transactions on Consumer Electronics, Section Editor of the Wiley ETRI Journal, and Co-Editor-in-Chief of the KSII Transactions on Internet and Information Systems. Dr. Chung will be serving as the General Co-Chair of the 2022 IEEE ICCE (International Conference on Consumer Electronics) and has contributed to many international conferences including serving as the General Chair of IEEE ICCE-Asia 2020 and IEEE MWSCAS 2011.
