Topic:

Cybersecurity - Product Security is Everyone's Responsibility

Product Security must never be an afterthought. Instead, strong cybersecurity principles and standards should be built into every phase of product development. Product Security encompasses an organization’s people, tools, processes, infrastructure, and training to ensure products are being developed, manufactured, and supported with security in mind. As part of the product development cycle, Product Security follows the gate-process of development based on a well-defined cybersecurity framework. Like corporate information security, it typically consists of multiple stages designed to uncover or identify product vulnerabilities, protect/defend the product through activities such as vulnerability remediation and hardening, respond to product cybersecurity incidents, and actively monitor and enhance cybersecurity. It involves not only the Security team, but also the product development organization such as R&D (SW, HW), Quality, Medical Affairs, Regularity Affairs, Manufacturing, Marketing, customer-facing teams and others.
