IEEE Women in Engineering (WIE) is a global network of IEEE members and volunteers dedicated to promoting women engineers and scientists - first in supporting women to enter this field, and then in supporting them to remain and grow there. One of the ways the WIE Affinity Group of IEEE Hyderabad Section helps is by bringing in role models to share their story and provide their insights. In this event, we have Karuna Annavajjala, Chief Information Officer at Silicon Labs speak about the insights she has gathered from her journey as an engineering student in Hyderabad to a CXO position in a billion-dollar engineering multinational based in the US. Silicon Labs is the world leader in wireless solutions for the IoT, and has an engineering centre here in Hyderabad. In this session, Karuna will be joined by Prof. Padma Sai, Chair of the WIE AG at Hyderabad Section, and N Venkatesh, past chair of IEEE Hyderabad Section and a member of the WIE AG.
Speaker : Karuna Annavajjala
Karuna Annavajjala is the Chief Information Officer (CIO) of Silicon Labs,Inc., a global technology that designs and manufactures semiconductor devices and software for Internet of Things applications. At Silicon Labs, Karuna oversees IT services for our worldwide business operations, including strategic planning, infrastructure services, business application platforms, cyber security and data privacy, and IT service delivery. Karuna has more than 20 years of progressive technical leadership experience in a variety of distributed environments. Prior to joining Silicon Labs, Karuna served as CIO of Corporate Functions at AIG. Previously, she was the executive director of technology delivery at TIAA and in other prior roles, she provided technology management and strategy consulting services at Deloitte Consulting and was a product manager at Alliance Data.
Karuna holds an MBA from the University of Michigan, an MS in Computer Science from West Virginia University, and a bachelor’s degree in Engineering from Osmania University. In addition, she completed an executive leadership certificate at Cornell University, S.C. Johnson Graduate School of Management. She is passionate about STEM education for girls, is an advocate for women in technology, and is actively involved in various local and international non-profit causes.
