Alaska Broadband Plan - IEEE Section Meeting
The Alaska Broadband Plan
On August 23, 2016, the Federal Communications Commission adopted the Alaska Plan Order, which freezes $1.5 billion in funding over ten years and allocates that money to maintain, extend, and upgrade broadband service across certain areas of Alaska. Ultimately, fifteen rate-of-return carriers and eight of their wireless affiliates elected the Plan.
We look forward to presentation from Christine O'Connor the Broadband Task Force and the broadband provisions of the Infrastructure, Investment, and Jobs Act which have superseded some provisions of the Alaska Broadband Plan.
We will also be recognizing our 2022 IEEE Alaska Section UAA and UAF Scholarship receiptients.
