Student Tour to TRIUMF (Canada's particle accelerator centre)
IEEE SFU Student Branch has organized a Tour to TRIUMF, where you can meet professionals in their work setting. You will have a chance to interact and learn from experts in the industry, improve your job prospects and explore the other end of the horizon (beyond lecture sessions).
The IEEE SFU Student Branch Team would like to invite you to join us on a site visit to the TRIUMF (Canada's particle accelerator centre) on June 24th at 10:30 am.
The seats are limited (~20 students), so register ASAP to take a break from the monotony of the lectures/classes and engage in practical learning.
* Attendees are required to bring proof of vaccination and be aware of the standard health and safety requirements prior to arrival, found here.
* Parking information can be found here.
* More information about how accelerators work at TRIUMF can be found here.
About TRIUMF (https://www.triumf.ca/home/about-triumf/about-us/overview-profile):
Established in 1968 in Vancouver, TRIUMF is Canada’s particle accelerator centre. The lab is a hub for discovery and innovation inspired by a half-century of ingenuity in answering nature's most challenging questions. From the hunt for the smallest particles in our universe to research that advances the next generation of batteries or develops isotopes to diagnose and treat disease, TRIUMF drives more than scientific discovery. Powered by its complement of top talent and advanced accelerator infrastructure, TRIUMF is pushing the frontiers in isotope science and innovation, as well as technologies to address fundamental and applied problems in particle and nuclear physics, and the materials and life sciences. TRIUMF's diverse community of nearly 600 multidisciplinary researchers, engineers, technicians, tradespeople, staff, and students create a unique incubator for Canadian excellence, as well as a portal to premier global collaborations. Our passion for understanding everything from the nature of the nucleus to the creation of the cosmos sparks imagination, inspiration, improved health, economic opportunity, and a better world for all.
