To participate in such a race, a person has to master the balancing act. A lemon is placed on a spoon and the participant, in turn, has to hold the spoon in his mouth. With that, he has to walk towards the finishing line. The game involves participants running while carrying an lime balanced on the end of a spoon. The basic objective of the race is to legally finish the race in the shortest duration of time. Lemon and Spoon racing is an individual sport that involves players competing against each other. The game usually takes place in an open field where tracks are marked accordingly. The distance of the track for the race varies based on the organization that conducts the race. The most common distances are the 50 meters and the 100 meters race formats. The basic concept of the race involves players carrying an lemon on the spoon as they race towards the finish line as fast as possible.
Before the race, each competitor is provided with a spoon and an lemon. All participants are lined up at the starting line with the lemons positioned on the spoon waiting for the start signal. After the start signal is given, all the participants run at their maximum speed holding the spoon with just one hand. It is not allowed for the participants to hold the spoon with two hands. In case the participant touches the egg, there is an immediate disqualification. In a situation where a competitor drops the lemon, they should immediately pick it up, put it back onto the spoon and balance it before they can resume running. The first player that manages to finish the entire course with the egg still balanced is declared as the winner.
