IEEE PES Kenya - DLP with Dr Noel Schulz (IEEE Fellow Member).


IEEE PES Kenya is organizing a Distinguished Lecture Program (DLP) with Dr Noel Schulz on the topic: UI-ASSIST: US-India Collaborative for smart Distribution System with Storage. The event will entail a DLP Session from 8am – 1pm EAT on 2nd February 2023 at Kenyatta University. Followed by a IEEE WIE & IEEE PES WIP Special Session from 2pm-4pm EAT.

US-India Collaborative for Smart Distribution System with Storage (UI-ASSIST),

Our Speaker, Dr. Noel Schulz is the US administrative lead for the US-India Collaborative for Smart Distribution System with Storage (UI-ASSIST) project which is supported by U$30 million funded by the US Department of Energy. The consortium is conducting cutting-edge collaborative research that will allow a continued increase of renewable energy penetration into their electric distribution grid. Thirty academic institutes, R&D organizations, utilities, industries and policy makers from India and US are working together on basic research activities, laboratory and real-world demonstrations. IIT Kanpur and Washington State University lead this effort from India and US, respectively.

Get to know your Speaker:
Dr. Noel Schulz is the Edmund O. Schweitzer III Chair in Power Apparatus and Systems at the School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at Washington State University Pullman. For over 29 years, she has been involved in teaching and research. She is the US administrative lead for the $30 million US-India Collaborative for Smart Distribution System with Storage, which is funded by the US Department of Energy (UI-ASSIST).

Mentorship Matters: Dr. Schulz has been very involved in recruiting, retention, and advancement of women and multicultural students and professionals in #STEM careers.

In IEEE , Dr. Schulz is an IEEE Fellow Member for her many years of volunteering and service. She served on the IEEE Power & Energy Society Governing Board for 12 years. She was also President of the IEEE Power & Energy Society in 2012-13.
