IEEE PES Pikes Peak Section Wind Tour with NextEra Energy Inc.
The Pikes Peak Chapter of the IEEE Power and Energy Society invites you to tour NextEra Energy Inc. and view their wind energy facilities located in Limon, CO.
NextEra Energy, Inc. is a leading clean energy company with consolidated revenues of approximately $17.0 billion, approximately 44,900 megawatts of generating capacity, which includes megawatts associated with noncontrolling interests related to NextEra Energy Partners, LP (NYSE: NEP), and approximately 13,800 employees in 27 states and Canada as of year-end 2014.
The tour will also include a technical presentation discussing topics such as:
- Wind availability to output curves
- Wind speed history
- Production/capacity of the wind farm
- Collector system
- How is it operated?
- Who dispatches the power?
- Operating history
- Building construction and permitting process
- Environmental permitting (studies)
- Maintenance cycle process
- Subsidies? royalties?
- How is it backed up as variable generation?
Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) is required: Hard hat, safety glasses and closed toed shoes. If you need any of the required PPE, please state what is needed in your RSVP response.
