The session began with a quick review of the previous session and solving some installation issues to ensure that all attendees had installed the necessary programs (Atmel & Proteus). There were two instructors who covered the following topics: an overview of the Atmega328p microcontroller we are using, how to get the port addresses from the datasheet, DIO output, delay, and LEDs, and DIO input and pushbuttons. After each topic, attendees were given hands-on practice on their laptops, creating a blinking LED and controlling an LED with a switch. As most of them were working with Proteus simulation software for the first time, there were many errors, but the instructors and head of the session were on hand to provide technical assistance. The feedback was positive, with attendees excited to have two instructors, one of whom works at Valeo and the other who is working on a graduation project involving ARM
