Crazy Idea: What If We Use Engineering to Develop and Deliver Engineering Education?
Engineering education aims to teach foundational concepts, mindsets, and practices of engineering as well as domain-specific concepts, mindsets, and practices. Some engineering constructs can be generally applied across engineering disciplines, such as modeling, and other concepts are discipline-specific and based on the related branch of science. Did you know that there is a branch of engineering that leverages general engineering principles as well as discipline-specific practices rooted in the learning sciences? In this discussion session, participants are invited to discuss what it would take to move current programs and practices toward the learning engineering of engineering education. Your input will inform a proposed session at the Frontiers in Education Conference.
