Tour of Soldier Canyon Water Filter Plant
Soldier Canyon Filter Plant is a 60 Million Gallon per Day (MGD) drinking water treatment plant that supplies water to three water Districts in Larimer and Weld counties – the East Larimer County Water District (ELCO), the Fort Collins-Loveland Water District (FCLWD), and the North Weld County Water District (NWCWD) . The Plant delivers over 8 billion gallons of water annually to approximately 100,000 people in the norther Colorado area. The Plant is a conventional water treatment plant (pretreatment through flocculation/sedimentation), with filtration and chemical addition. The Plant treats water from both the Colorado Big Thompson project (CBT) through Horsetooth Reservoir and from the Cache la Poudre River. That plan is staffed and operated 24/7/365 by a staff of 22 dedicated water treatment professionals.
