Breaking Boundaries – A Motivational Talk
A motivational talk on conquering the challenges that come with a career transition to another field, and navigating through life in another continent, as narrated by the speaker, Ms. Judith Joseph, who shared her experiences starting as an electrical engineer working at reputed companies such as Kimberly Clark, Tesla to transitioning into a Senior Solutions Architect at Amazon.

In today’s world, the importance of versatility and adaptability cannot be understated, as with the tech revolution we must keep up pace with it. On Wednesday, 29th March 2023, the IEEE CIS SB of Sri Sairam Institute of Technology decided to organize a seminar to address this need and motivate the students in their pursuit of their desired career. The guest speaker, Ms. Judith Joseph, is a Senior Solutions Architect at Amazon Web Services, and has formerly worked at companies such as Kimberly Clark and Tesla as an electrical engineer. The session began with an inaugural address from Danyashri C, Treasurer, IEEE SB SIT, following which the guest was felicitated with a memento for her presence. The session started with the speaker elucidating on her experiences on obtaining an undergraduate degree in India, then making the decision to move abroad to further her career, wherein she worked odd jobs to support herself, with the economy. Being an immigrant to a first-world country wasn’t an easy task for her, she faced discrimination, was disadvantaged yet she believed in herself, worked hard and got selected into Tesla as an electrical engineer. Her work at Tesla exposed her to different technologies, which piqued her interest into the realm of computer science, and thus she made projects, transitioned to a solutions architect role at AWS. Afterwards, a QnA session was held, wherein she gave valuable advice to budding engineers and motivated them. The vote of thanks was given by Dr. Saritha G, the IEEE SB Counselor for Sri Sairam Institute of Technology.
