Abstract
AI and ML will have a significant impact on our future society, but often these terms are misunderstood. Dr. Kim will lead a discussion on his life-long experience and perspective on AI from technical and societal view. His unique view on AI, ML, and DL stems from the deep understanding of the technology and his philosophical understanding of technology revolutions. He will facilitate a discussion of the meaning of intelligence, collective intelligence, optimization, and societal impacts. The talk will be tailored for technical audience with understanding of high-school level mathematics.
Biography:
As life-long innovator, Dr. Jonn Kim has worked as a researcher, engineer, program manager, CTO, and CEO for various organizations including NASA, start-ups, and a multi-billion dollar corporation. He is currently serving as CEO/CTO of Geeks and Nerds who specializes in technologies for national security, and led the company to win numerous national awards including INC 5000, US Chamber of Commerce, and IEEE. He serves on the advisory board of Vanderbilt University Electrical and Computer Engineering Department and as a entrepreneurship mentor for Vanderbilt Wond’ry. He frequently lectures on topics on entrepreneurship, artificial intelligence, and social changes. He studied AI and DL in graduate school and continues to maintain technical leadership in these areas. He received PhD in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Vanderbilt University and MS in Electrical Engineering from University of Alabama in Huntsville.
