Celebration of IEEE DAY 2023

On 14th October, 2023 (Saturday), IEEE Bangladesh Section and IEEE WIE Affinity Group Bangladesh Section successfully jointly organized an event to celebrate IEEE DAY 2023 on an online platform. Four speakers from different fields shared their knowledge and research work.

Mohammed Shafi K from System Software Engineer, Intel Corporation, Folsom, California - USA delivered a keynote talk on latest developments and trends in the Automotive, as well as advancements in X86 platforms; Dr. Smita Nirkhi of Associate professor and Head of Artificial Intelligence department, G H Raisoni Institute of Engineering and Technology- India presented Evaluation of Classifiers for detection of Authorship Attribution in her keynote talk; Dr Ford Lumban Gaol, Professor & Head Department of Doctor Computer Science, Bina Nusantara University, Indonesia delivered a keynote address on the Artificial Intelligence and Education Sector: The influence and Trend and Dr. Syed Tanweer Shah Bukhari delivered a keynote talk on Cognitive Approach to Hierarchical Task Selection for Human-Robot Interaction in Dynamic Environments.

The event was moderated by IEEE Bangladesh Section Chair Professor Moshiul Hoque. Dr. Shaikh Anowarul Fattah, Professor, Dept. of EEE, BUET and Dr. Muhammad Amjad Iqbal, Dean FOITCS, University of Central Punjab Lahore, Pakistan attended the event and shared their knowledge. IEEE Bangladesh Section Vice Chair (Activity) Dr. Raju Ahmed; IEEE Bangladesh Section and IEEE WIE AG BDS Treasurer Anamika Bakhat; IEEE Bangladesh Section Awards Coordinator Md. Maniruzzaman and Publicity Coordinator Engr Shohel Rana along with various countries (USA, India, Indonesia, Pakistan and Bangladesh) professors, students and industry experts were also present at the event. Around 40 participants attended the event.

We sincerely thank the Chairs of IEEE Bangladesh Section and IEEE WIE Affinity Group Bangladesh Section; Researchers, Participants and volunteers for making the event a success. Mohammed Shafi K is working as System Software Engineer In Intel Corporation, Folsom, California - USA. As a System Software Engineer at Intel Corporation, he is deeply involved in optimizing and enhancing performance in the areas of HSIO (High-Speed Input/Output) and Memory across all the Intels Platforms.

With over 11 years of industrial experience in embedded software development for various hardware platforms, he has established himself as a seasoned professional in the field. His expertise spans multiple domains, including ARM and X86 architectures, with a strong focus on PCIe devices, SSD memory devices, and UFS devices. His skills extend to the full design and development of Vehicle-to-Vehicle Communication (V2X technology) and Ethernet-AVB stacks, reflecting my commitment to cutting-edge technologies in the automotive and networking sectors.

His career journey has led him to Intel Corporation in California, USA, where he currently serve as a System Software Engineer. In this role, his contribute to the development of innovative solutions for complex challenges in the tech industry. Prior to his time at Intel, he worked as a Firmware Engineer for Reviver in California, where he had the opportunity to work on groundbreaking projects such as the "World First Digital License Number Plate" for low-power IoT devices.

In 2018, he received the prestigious CEO Award at Altran Technology in recognition of his exceptional contributions to the development of V2X technology, which was showcased at CES in Las Vegas, NV, USA. This technology has played a crucial role in enhancing road safety and has potentially saved millions of lives by preventing accidents.

Beyond his professional endeavors, he is known for his dedication to education and community. He formulated a curriculum for the Electronics subject at a Vocational Higher Secondary School, aligning it with the mandates of the Kerala Government. Notably, his curriculum integration of comprehensive industrial core requisites received significant recognition and appreciation from governmental authorities, underscoring my commitment to enhancing education and fostering innovation in the academic sphere.

In addition to his technical skills and achievements, he is recognized as a patient and objective individual who excels in conflict resolution, finding solutions that benefit both his company and the teams he work with. His holistic approach to his career combines technical expertise, innovation, and a strong commitment to improving society through technological advancements.

Biography:

Dr. Smita Nirkhi, B.E (CSE), M.Tech (CSE), Ph.D. (CSE), serves as an Associate Professor and Head of the AI Department at GHRIET, Nagpur. She obtained her Ph.D. in Computer Science & Engineering from Nagpur University in 2017, boasting a substantial background in teaching and research. Her expertise spans Artificial Intelligence, Data Mining, Digital Forensics, Cybersecurity, Pattern Recognition, Deep Learning, and Machine Learning. Dr. Nirkhi has received recognition as a Panel Member Judge for the Data Science Awards in 2020 and 2021 across four categories. She has earned numerous accolades, including the "Outstanding Woman in Engineering-2019" award from the Venus International Foundation, the Best Teacher Award from the Universal Innovators Leadership Award in 2021, the Nari Samman Award from Literoma in 2021, and the Elite Teacher title from I2OR in 2021.Furthermore, she has authored the book "Data Mining in Cyber Forensics: A Systematic Approach" and published over 50 research papers in peer-reviewed journals and international conferences. Dr. Nirkhi is actively engaged in peer reviewing and serves as an editorial board member for esteemed journals and IEEE conferences.

 

Her professional affiliations include the Computer Society of India (CSI) as a Professional Member, Senior Membership in IEEE, Fellow Membership in IEI, and Life Membership in ISTE and the Internet Society.Dr. Nirkhi's research endeavors have garnered significant support, including an INR 8 Lacs grant under the Research Project Scheme from AICTE and an INR 50,000 grant for organizing an International Conference from AICTE. Additionally, she received a grant of 1.5 Lacs from SERB for organizing another International Conference. Beyond her academic achievements, Dr. Nirkhi holds prestigious titles such as IEEE Day Ambassador for 2023, WIE Ambassador for 2023, and IEEE Ethics Champion recognized by EAAC, reflecting her dedication and influence in her field. She also serves as the IEEE branch Counsellor at GHRIET student branch and is the CIS Chapter advisor.

Dr Ford Lumban Gaol is the recipient of International Grant from Kazan Federal University (Russia) in 2015, Vladimir State University (Russia) in 2016, Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation in 2017, Southern Federal University (Russia) in 2018.

 

The recipient of IIAI Japan grant for year 2018 and 2019 with the total amount USD 135,500/year and AIIT Japan as Senior Researchers on year 2019 with the amount USD 156,000. On Mid 2020, Dr Ford together with Prof. Takayuki Ito in Kyoto University, Japan and Prof Tokuro Matsuo in AIIT Tokyo Japan, win the grant from The Japanese National Research and Development Agencies with the title Hyper Democracy: Development of Conscious Formation Platform of Social Multi-Agent System (HDMAS) with the amount 297,000,000 JPY (40,260,200,000.00 IDR).

Dr Ford was the PhD Supervisor for 7 Doctor of Management Science and 12 Doctor of Computer Science and more than 50  Master Students. Currently, he is supervising 12 Computer Science  PhD students  and 12 Master Students. He has 364  Scopus documents, with 6,478Citations and H Index = 14      

Dr Ford is  Senior Member of IEEE, IEEE Computer Society, IEEE Education Society, Member of Indonesian Mathematical Society (IndoMS), Professional member of The Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) Professional, The International Association of Engineers (IAENG), and the Indonesia Society for Bioinformatics.

Dr Ford already involved with some project relate with Technology Alignment in some of multinational companies as well as some goverment projects.

Dr Ford Was born in Jakarta. He hold  the B.Sc. in Mathematics, Master of Computer Science. and the Doctor in Computer Science from the University of Indonesia, Indonesia in 1997, 2001 and 2009, respectively. He also hold engineer (Insinyur) profession degree from Binus University.

Biography:

Dr. Syed Tanweer Shah Bukhari is a distinguished academic and researcher deeply committed to excellence in the fields of computer science and robotics. Holding a Ph.D. in Computer Science from COMSATS University Islamabad and a Master of Sciences in Computer Science from Government College University, Lahore, he has built an illustrious academic career.

In addition to his academic pursuits, Dr. Bukhari actively engages in professional and volunteer activities. He serves as the Secretary for the 25th IEEE International Multitopic Conference (INMIC) and is honored as a Fellow in the IEEE RAS Faculty Engagement Program. His contributions extend to his role as a Senior Lecturer in the Faculty of IT & CS at the University of Central Punjab and Chair of the Professional Activities Committee for the IEEE Lahore Section.

Dr. Bukhari's contributions have been widely acknowledged, including awards such as the IEEE Best Volunteer (Researcher) of the Year Award in 2021 and the Best IEEE Counsellor of the Year Award in 2018 from the IEEE Lahore Section. His research paper, "NiHA: A Conscious Agent," received the Best Paper Award at the Tenth International Conference on Advanced Cognitive Technologies and Applications in 2018.

Dr. Syed Tanweer Shah Bukhari is a dedicated scholar whose expertise encompasses cognitive robotics, machine imagination, and artificial intelligence. His active involvement in research, conferences, and publications underscores his unwavering commitment to advancing knowledge. Dr. Bukhari further extends his impact through international talks, workshops, and panel discussions, generously sharing his insights with the global academic community. His profound contributions in cognitive robotics, artificial intelligence, and machine imagination have solidified his esteemed reputation within the computer science and technology field.
