IEEE Wichita Section Holiday Banquet 2023 (with Undergraduate Poster Display and an Ethics display)
All IEEE Wichita Section members and all Wichita State IEEE Student Section members are invited to attend the Annual Holiday Banquet on Tuesday, November 28, 2023, at Larkspur Bistro, 904 E. Douglas Ave, Wichita, KS. We will gather with appetizers at 5:30 followed by dinner at 6:00.

Dr. Aravinthan a Department Chair of the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department (ECE). Will address (re)branding electrical and computer engineering: How the ECE department at Wichita State University can collaborate with Industry.
BIO
Dr. Aravinthan is an Associate Professor and Department Chair of the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department. He joined Wichita State University in August 2011 as an Assistant Professor in the Electrical Engineering and Computer Science Department. He received a Bachelor's and Master’s degree in electrical engineering from the University of Moratuwa, Sri Lanka in 2002 and 2004 respectively, and MS and Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Wichita State University in 2006 and 2010 respectively. Before joining Wichita State University, he was a faculty member at Clemson University for one year. His research interests include power system planning and reliability analysis, cyber-physical energy systems, energy resilience and security, and energy justice and equity.
Dr.Visvakumar Aravinthan is a senior member of IEEE and currently serving as the chair of the IEEE PES Risk, Reliability, and Probabilistic Applications Sub-Committee and leading the Power and Energy University Education Survey working group for IEEE PES Power and Energy Education Subcommittee. He also is currently serving as the Technical Program Chair for the 2025 IEEE Green Technology Conference which the IEEE Wichita Section organizes.

Before dinner at the IEEE Wichita Section Undergraduate Poster Competition will be held, students will be displaying posters from course projects, senior design, or undergraduate research projects, as well as an Ethics Contest presentation.
All IEEE Professional members in good standing may attend and bring a guest, with the Section hosting dinner and drinks. Students are also invited to the IEEE Wichita Professional Dinner (students may bring a guest, but there will be an extra charge).

Meal: Appetizer Buffet - Hummus and pita Chips, Dinner Buffet includes: Salad - Greek, Entree Selections of Chicken Pistachio (Parmesan cream sauce with pistachio pesto), Pasta Primavera (Alfredo sauce with pistachio pesto), Chef's choice starch, Seasonal vegetables, Desert - Vanilla Cheesecake with berry sauce.
Sitting limited to 80 people... 55 professionals and 15 Students (to be adjusted as needed)
