Prospective EM research areas in Aerospace and Defence
This talk will discuss the perspective reasearch areas in Aerospace and Defence applications. It will highlight the importance of Electromagnetics in aersopace and defecne applications and dwell upon the critical technologies and subsystems being developed in these areas with electromagnetics as key technology focus.
Biography:
Dr. DR Jahagirdar is Oustanding Scientist at RCI, DRDO Hyderabad. He received Bachelor of Engineering in Electronics, Amravati University, Maharashtra, 1990, Master of Technology, Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur, West Bengal, 1992 and Doctor of Philosophy, University Southampton, United Kingdom, 1997. His achievements include antenna designs for various RF systems. Recipient Best Paper award, High Frequency Postgraduate Student Colloquium Leeds United Kingdom, 1997, Young Scientist award, International Radar Symposium, Bangalore, India, 2005, Laboratory Scientist of Year award, RCI, 2006.

Antennas and Systems for 5G/6G Applications
This talk will present the recent trends in antennas and other microwave technologies for 5G/6G applications. The talk will provide details of these technologies and how they are going to shape the future of wireless communication.
Biography:
Prof. K. P. Ray is M. Tech in Microwave Electronics from University of Delhi and PhD from Department of Electrical Engineering IIT, Bombay. Presently he is a Professor in the Dept. of Electronics Engineering, DIAT, DRDO, Pune. Prior to this, he was a Programme Director SAMEER Mumbai, wherein he joined SAMEER (TIFR) in 1985 and worked in the areas of RF and microwave systems/components and developed expertise in the design of antenna elements/arrays and high power RF/microwave sources for RADAR and industrial applications.
He has successfully executed over 51 projects sponsored by Govt. agencies/industries and developed as many technologies and indigenous systems.
He has been a guest/invited/adjunct faculty in EE Dept at IIT, Bombay, University of Mumbai, Goa Engineering College and CEERI (CSIR) Pilani for the post graduate courses. Has co-authored a book for Artech House, USA and published over 450 research papers in international/national journals and conference proceedings for which he has more than 8100 citations. He holds three patents on which he has twelve technology transfers with industries and filed three patents. Two of the technology developed by him had got DGS&D now GEM (Government E-Market Place) rate-listing. He has been in advisory capacity for many international/national conferences, engineering colleges, chaired many sessions and delivered more than 120 invited talks.
He is a editorial board member of the Defence Science Journal and an associate editor of International Journal on RF and Microwave Computer-Aided Engineering, Wiley, and a prolific reviewer of IEEE T-AP, IEEE AWPS, Electronics Letter, IET (Formerly IEE, UK), International Journal of Antennas and Propagation (USA), PIERS (USA), International Journal of electronics (USA), Journal of Electromagnetic Waves and Applications (USA), International Journal of Microwave and Optical Technology (IJMOT) USA, International Journal of Microwave Science and Technology Hindwai, AEU Elsevier, SADHNA Springer, IETE (Taylor & Francis) and many international/national conferences and chaired many sessions. He is a senior member of IEEE (USA), a fellow IETE, a fellow VEDAS, and life member of Instrument society of India and Engineers of EMI/EMC society of India.
He has received several awards including IETE-Smt. Ranjana Pal Memorial Award 2014 and the most coveted IETE - Ram Lal Wadhwa Award 2018. He has been listed as Indian Researchers in Stanford University’s Top 2% Most Influential Scientists List for the Year 2020.
