Internal Hackathon for Smart India Hackathon 2023
The internal hackathon for ‘Smart India Hackathon 2023’ (SIH-23) was impeccably organized by the "AI and Robotics Club" at the Institute of Radio Physics and Electronics, operating under the prestigious banner of the "IEEE Calcutta University Student Branch", at J.N. Bhar Hall. Aspiring teams, eager to participate in ‘Smart India Hackathon 2023’, enthusiastically presented their ingenious ideas and innovations before our distinguished panel of judges. From this pool of talent, the crème de la crème was meticulously chosen to represent Calcutta University in the forthcoming Hackathon. The selection process was rigorous, evaluating teams based on the merit of their ideas, the degree of innovation showcased, the effectiveness of teamwork demonstrated, and the feasibility of implementing their concepts on a large scale. Additionally, the judges assessed the robustness of the proposed implementations.
Event Schedule and Highlights: The event was held at J.N. Bhar Hall, IRPE from 4:30pm to 7:30pm.
The event was orchestrated to unveil the ingenious innovations of our students and to meticulously handpick the crème de la crème to represent Calcutta University in the prestigious Smart India Hackathon 2023.
The Smart India Hackathon (SIH) stands as a nationally revered platform that unites students from diverse educational institutions in a collective endeavor to tackle tangible real-world challenges. This hackathon's overarching objective is to kindle the spirit of collaboration, ignite innovative thinking, and provide students with a stage to showcase their technical prowess. It is a collaborative initiative between the Ministry of Education's Innovation Cell and the All-India Council of Technical Education (AICTE).
The event was impeccably structured, with each participating team being called in sequence to deliver their presentations, each lasting 8 minutes. Following their presentations, our distinguished judges engaged in a thoughtful exchange of ideas and posed questions to the teams for 7 minutes.
In total, 15 teams graced us with their innovative ideas, with notable mentions such as the "Drone-based AI Vigilance System," "Sensor Networks for Public Lighting System," "Smart Parking Management System," and the "Underwater Dam Repair and Monitoring System," among others.
Our esteemed Prof. Dr. Abhirup Das Barman bestowed first place upon the "Drone-based AI Vigilance System" by the illustrious team StealthFlight, led by Mr. Subhabrata Bose. Meanwhile, the "Sensor Networks for Public Lighting System" by the remarkable team SGC, led by Mr. Saranya Mukherjee, and the "Smart Parking Management System" by the innovative team TechInnovators, led by Mr. Shivam Kumar Sah, secured second place.
To conclude this captivating event, Prof. Dr. Abhirup Das Barman delivered an insightful speech, highlighting the strengths and areas for improvement in some of the presented ideas, offering guidance to our budding talents.
The event was flawlessly anchored by the talented Arghyadipta Koley and impeccably managed by the dynamic duo of Saranya Mukherjee and Subhojoy Pal. Their exceptional coordination skills ensured the seamless execution of this remarkable event.
