DR J BALAMURUGAN of TANGEDCO,CHENNAI

Biography:

Dr. J. Balamurugan received his Engineering Doctorate (2018) from St Peter’s University , Master 
of Technology (2011) from Dr.M.G.R University, and Bachelor of Engineering (2000) from 
Madras University. He has an overall experience of 22 years in which more than 8+ Years in 
Installation, Administration and Maintenance of various networking systems, Hardware peripherals 
on Windows/ Linux servers, Firewall, Video Conferencing solutions, 6+ years in Generation, 
Transmission, Distribution ranging from 110MW to 660MW generators, 230/400 KV HT lines, 230 
KV indoor GIS/Outdoor substation, HVAC operations/Maintenance, IOT, AMR / SMART 
metering process. Recently he has been debuted to TamilNadu Energy Development Agency 
(TEDA) – State Nodal Agency (SNA) for TamilNadu state reporting to Ministry of New & 
Renewable Energy , looking after several Renewable Energy schemes. He is heading the Solar 
powered EV Charging station – unique project funded by TANII, installed in DPI complex, 
Nungambakkam and 2 more EV projects to be executed near Secretariat and other Government 
building. Earlier to this office, he has been working as Assistant Executive Engineer /commercial 
looking after DSOP, LOP, Tariff revision coordinating with TNERC, Project coordination with 
NHAI and foremost making arrangement to solve the problem faced by the customers which are 
received through petitions. He was working as Assistant Engineer/Electrical/IT division looking 
after servers and data migration process for prestigious central govt project RAPDRP, First of its 
kind Data centre (Tier-III Architecture) in TANGEDCO/TNEB Hqrs, Chennai. His passion for 
research is to find optimal solution for Power System problems in AI – Machine learning. To his 
credit, he has organized and coordinated many National & International Conferences. He received 
many Awards for his Research Activities and an international award by Venus International for his 
significant contribution in organizing activities in Tamil Literature. He was the organizing secretary 
for the 35th National Electrical convention on Storage Technologies which held in Chennai, 
addressed by Professor. Ashok Jhunjhunwala, National advisor for Storage solutions & key note 
speaker by an Eminent Engineer. He was one of the organizer and Technical Co-Chair of IE(India) 
32nd Indian Engineering Congress held at Chennai During 20-22, Dec 2017 with witness of his 
excellency honorable President of India together with Governor of Tamilnadu. He has organized 
more than 25 workshops, 10 symposium, 30 seminars and delivered many technical lectures for 
finding solutions to emerging Engineering needs. During Covid19 lockdown, he has organized 12 
Hours International Virtual Conference, which is registered by Guinness was most informative and 
had many takeaways titled ENERGATHON’20 available in IGEN youtube.
