IEEE Section Night - NOW AS A WEBINAR!

Webinar link and password will be forwarded to all registered participants after Noon on the day of the meeting. Check your spam folder if you don't see the email.

Webinar is open to all.

Low Voltage VFDs

The application of Variable Freqency Drives (VFD) has increased significantly since I initally wrote courses on VFDs 10 years ago. This course will present the electrical and mechanical enngineering utilized to specify adjustable speed drive and include case studies for projects completed over the past 10 years, like the Sky Diving Wind Tunnel Motor and Drive System and the Replacement of the MG Set for the Gateway (St. Louis) Arc trams, pointing out the design of the power system and the control systems which are unique to using Low Voltage VFDs.

Biography:

Joseph Maida has a BSEE and MSEE from Drexel University, is a Professional Engineer in 26 states, served as the Electrical Engineer for the PA UCCRAC from 2009 to 2011, holds two patents and is the president of Maida Engineering, Inc.   Through Maida Engineering, Inc. Joseph has had the opportunity and pleasure to perform engineering and design for numerous commercial and industrial clients throughout and beyond the USA on many significant and diverse projects. Combining his education and knowledge of electrical power systems with creativity and a passion for learning, Joseph has successfully specifed, modifed and configured variable frequency drives (VFDs) based on the electrical system they are powered from and the mechanical drive systems they control.
