Project Expo 2k24
The Project Expo 2k24 was organized by the IEEE Education Society Student Branch Chapter – 62851 of St. Xavier's Catholic College of Engineering with the support from IEEE MAS Education Society and IEEE MAS Photonics Society Chapters on 8th April 2024. The event was coordinated by the Student Coordinator, Mr. C. S. Collins David, Chairman of IEEE Photonics Society SBC under the guidance of Mrs. G. Johncy, Faculty Advisor of IEEE Education Society SBC. The theme of the expo was "Leveraging Technology for a better tomorrow".
Preparations for the expo like sending posters to diverse student branches across the state began six months prior, with detailed planning of the entire work were carried out by five committees. Registrations for the expo saw enthusiastic participation, with 78 teams registering, 47 for hardware projects and 31 for software projects as of 6th February 2024. After evaluation, 48 projects were selected for presentation and were intimated via acknowledgement mail on 22nd February. Out of the selected teams, 31 teams including 25 hardware teams and 6 software teams submitted their final reports on 15th March 2024.
The expo was held in the Conference Hall, and it began by 9:30 a.m. with an inaugural function compared by Ms. Eme Breeza S. The Code of Ethics was read by Mr. J. Daldon Vargis Raja, IEEE Member. Ms. J S Preethi Manjra, Chairperson of IEEE Education Society SBC welcomed the gathering with warm greetings. Ms. G. Johncy, Faculty Advisor of IEEE Education Society SBC gave an introduction about the Project Expo 2k24. Later, Ms. K. Ashlin Stephy, Chairperson of IEEE Women in Engineering SBAG introduced the Chief Guest of the event. Mr. P. R. Vishnu, IT Analyst at TCS, graced the event as Chief Guest and he gave an inspirational talk. The gathering of the expo were felicitated by Dr. J. Maheswaran, Principal of SXCCE. The inaugural function came to an conclusion by the vote of thanks delivered by Mr. C. S. Collins David. Chairman of IEEE Photonics Society SBC.
Project presentations for the 17 teams including 15 hardware teams and 2 software teams were conducted, showcasing innovative solutions to real-world problems. The panel of esteemed judges, including Mr. J. G. Benny Jackson, DevOps Engineer from Capestart Pvt. Ltd., Ms. R. Ankayarkanni, Senior Software Engineer from Formcept, Mr. Mohamed Siad, Senior Software Engineer from Technerds Solutions, Ms. C. Lincy Theresa, Application Developer from Tata Consultancy Services, and Mr. R. Abhishek, CEO & Founder of Chek.InTek, evaluated the projects and provided their valuable feedback.
The gatherings in the afternoon session were welcomed by Ms. R. P. Priya, Secretary of IEEE Student Branch. Following it, Rev. Fr. Dr. M. Maria William, Correspondent of SXCCE delivered the presidential address highlighting the importance of the expo. Later, the session was facilitated as an interaction between judges and participants, highlighting the event's commitment to fostering technological innovation. The valedictory function, marked by the distribution of prizes and certificates, and with the words of gratitude by Mr. B. Gerald Briyolan, Chairman of IEEE Student Branch and concluded with the National Anthem.
Thus the 'Project Expo 2k24' served as a platform for students to demonstrate their creativity and technological prowess. The event underscored the importance of leveraging technology for societal betterment and provided participants with invaluable learning experiences.
