BMSCE IEEE PES & SC - IEEE PES STUDENT CONGRESS
IEEE PES Bangalore Chapter in collaboration with BMSCE IEEE PES and Sensors Council conducted the flagship event IEEE PES Student Congress 2023 on 2nd December 2023 which was held at the premises of BMS College of Engineering. The theme of the Student Congress was “Moving Towards Net Zero Energy Transition”. 40+ participants from various colleges of Karnataka attended the Student Congress and participated actively in all the various activities that were planned for them.
The Student Congress was inaugurated at 10:45am with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp by Dr. Chandrashekhar Atla, Dr. Chandasree Das, Dr. Nethravthi S, and the Execom Members of BMSCE IEEE PES and SC and it was hosted by Ramya Sheshadri and Hari Charan. Following the inauguration, the dignitaries addressed the gathering, and a tea break was held afterward.
Right after the tea break, a panel discussion took place on the theme “Net Zero Energy Transition”. The panelists included Dr. Chandrashekhar Atla, Mr. Praveen A N from Hitachi Energy India Limited, Mr. Shamanth Gowda T, Associate Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering at BMSCE and Dr Pradeepa who is a Professor in the Department of EEE at BMSCE. The panelists shared their valuable insights regarding the new trends in the energy transition activities taking place in industries and researches going in the domain. The panel discussion concluded at 1:00 PM and was followed by the lunch break.
Following the lunch break, a general quiz on Green Energy was conducted, captivating participants and ensuring their awareness of current affairs within the Energy domain. After the quiz, IdeaForge, an interactive ideathon, took place which was a collaboration event of PES Student Chapters from BMSCE, UVCE and DSCE. All of the participants were divided into teams of 4 and a common problem statement was given to them. Every team was given a timeframe of 15 minutes to ideate and come up with innovative ideas to tackle the problem with different perspectives.
Winners of Quiz and IdeaForge were announced after every team was finished presenting the proposals and prizes were distributed.
Upon the announcement of the winners, Priyanshu Kumar Chaudhary delivered the vote of thanks, which led to a high tea session. A group photo was taken with all the participants, dignitaries and Execom Members to mark the end of Student Congress 2023. Overall, the Student Congress was a success, with participants getting an opportunity to network with students of various colleges.
