Dallas Section CVT - Joint Meeting with UTD - Please note Date and Location Changes

Welcome to 2024 CVT members

Our 2024 first half member tech talks begin on Monday, February 19, 2024, not our usual Tuesday.

We are joining with UT Dallas in presenting a Distinguished Lecturer, and his schedule only permits the Monday talk.

The details are:

Dr. Ali C. Began, Professor of Computer Science, Ozyegin University will be presenting on:
“Unifying Real-Time Communications and Content Delivery with Media-over-QUIC Transport.”

The talk will be in the TI Auditorium (in the ECSS building Room 2.102, on the ground floor, not our usual building), please look at the map. The talk begins at 11:00 am, again not our usual time, and concludes at 12:00 PM.

Due to the timing, we will not be providing a lunch option.

About the talk:
Abstract:
OTT live sports has led sports broadcasting to a new level.  Yet, there are still some challenges.  For example, nobody wants to hear a neighbor’s cheers when a goal is scored before seeing it on the screen, making low latency transport and playback indispensable.  Synchronization among all viewing devices and social media feeds is also essential. The IETF recently started developing a QUIC-based low-latency delivery solution for media ingest and distribution. The Media-over-QUIC work is still in its infancy but could be a game-changer.  In this talk, we will discuss the architectural design issues and present preliminary results from our implementation.

Parking passes will be available at the event.
