AI Bridge: Artificial Inteligence for a better world
About AI Bridge
AI Bridge 2024, promoted by the IEEE Computer Society & Computational Intelligence Society Joint Chapter of the IEEE Student Branch of the Federal University of Paraíba (UFPB), was a multidisciplinary event held on October 18 and 19 in João Pessoa, Paraíba, Brazil. Focused on exploring the transformative role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) as a bridge between disciplines, the event aimed to connect academia, industry and society to promote innovative, ethical and inclusive solutions. AI Bridge brought together students, researchers, professors, industry professionals and entrepreneurs to discuss topics related to the application of AI in the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), with an emphasis on inclusion, diversity and technological advancement. The program included lectures, workshops, competitions, project presentations and networking moments, strengthening the connection between technical knowledge and social impact.

- Mentorship program for Student Women in AI Research
Mentorship program for Student Women in AI Research: Led by Professor Natasha Correia Queiroz Lino from UFPB, this program offered guidance to 14 women participants, prioritizing women in IEEE. We also had the opportunity to learn from two exceptional mentors, Elayni Franco, a data scientist at Localiza company and undergraduate in Data Science and Artificial Intelligence at UFPB and Victória Grisi, a Computer Science student at UFPB, academic board of the AI league, researcher at ARIA lab at UFPB and an intern at the multinational Oracle.

Biography:
Graduated in Biological Sciences from the Federal University of Paraíba (2003) and master's degree in Computational Modeling with Emphasis in Bioinformatics and Computational Biology - National Laboratory of Scientific Computing (2008) and PhD in Computer Science from the Computer Science Center of the Federal University of Pernambuco (2012). She is currently an associate professor at the Federal University of Paraíba. She has experience in the area of Bioinformatics, Artificial Intelligence and its applications. Researcher at the Laboratory of Applications in Artificial Intelligence (ARIA).
Vinicius Lisboa of Microsoft
Microsoft - AI in the corporate world: building a solid career
In this talk, a Machine Learning expert with extensive experience in banking and currently working at Microsoft on Data and Artificial Intelligence projects, will share his professional trajectory and insights into the career of a Machine Learning Engineer. The talk will address the crucial role of this role in the development of AI solutions, as well as the challenges and opportunities of the sector, with a focus on applications.
Biography:
With a bachelor's degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from the Federal University of Paraíba - UFPB (2021), Vinícius Lisboa is a reference in technological innovation and works as a Data & AI consultant at Microsoft. With a solid professional trajectory, Vinícius also stood out for his work at Santander Brasil, where he was responsible for the creation and leadership of the Center of Excellence in Data and Machine Learning, successfully conducting complex migrations of data and models to the cloud.

In this talk, we will explore the practical application of artificial intelligence in the public sector, with insights from experts on how technology is transforming the government sector. One of the success stories highlighted will be the project developed by Dataprev in partnership with the Ministry of Labor, which used artificial intelligence to improve the National Employment System (SINE) and the hiring process.
Using machine learning algorithms, Dataprev implemented a system that analyzes candidate profile data and available vacancies, facilitating the efficient matching of job offers with qualified workers. This initiative not only accelerated the job placement process, but also expanded access to opportunities, positively impacting the lives of thousands of Brazilians.
Biography:
Master in Data Science from Unicamp. Currently works as a Data Scientist at Dataprev, one of the largest public companies in Brazil in digital solutions for government and citizens.

Thiago Medeiros leads the Data Science team at Dataprev, a company linked to the Ministry of Management and Innovation in Public Services and was responsible for the development of an innovative Artificial Intelligence solution launched by Dataprev for the Ministry of Labor, consolidating itself as a reference in data and process automation.

Biography:
Rafael Galvão Lopes de Mendonça is a Software Engineer at SMN Tecnologia da Informação, a Microsoft Learn Student Ambassador and a postgraduate student in Artificial Intelligence with an emphasis on Machine Learning. With solid experience in Artificial Intelligence, Rafael stands out in the application of Machine Learning and the use of the Azure platform, using these technologies to develop solutions in sectors such as construction and fintech. His expertise and commitment to innovation make him a reference in solving complex challenges and optimizing business processes.

Natasha Correia Queiroz Lino has a degree in Computer Science from the Federal University of Campina Grande - UFCG (1998), a master's degree in Computer Science from the Federal University of Pernambuco - UFPE (2000), and a Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Edinburgh/UK (2007). She completed her postdoctoral studies at the University of Edinburgh/UK (2013-2014). She is a professor at Federal University of Paraiba - UFPB, accredited in the Postgraduate Program in Computer Science (PPGI) of UFPB. She is the founder and coordinator of the Laboratory of Applied Artificial Intelligence (LIAA) UFPB.
