An overview of National Weather Service operations and support functions
The IEEE Central Illinois Section is cohosting a tour of the National Weather Service forecasting and radar site in Lincoln, IL. This free, in-person event is open to all IEEE members and students 18 years of age and older.
Parking stalls and wheelchair access are available near the front of the building. Federal law prohibits all visitors from bringing firearms or other weapons into the facility. For any additional questions: please see the attached contact information.

An Overview of NWS operations and support functions
This talk will include a slide presentation and transition to a guided tour of the Lincoln facility.
Biography:
Ed is currently the Warning Coordination Meteorologist at the National Weather Service (NWS) in Lincoln. Ed is in charge of the office's readiness for hazardous weather and public education on their hazardous weather safety program. He is also the primary liaison between the office and all the core partners. Ed has been with the NWS since 1994, after serving as an officer in the U.S. Navy during the first Gulf War. His time in the NWS has included stays in Madison WI, Duluth MN, and Lincoln IL. Throughout his career in the National Weather Service, Ed has been very active in severe weather research, training, outreach, and computer administration.
