Biography:
Jay Malin is an accomplished technology executive who has developed and deployed innovative multimedia communications software platforms for utilities, public safety agencies, and enterprise contact centers. He routinely meets with clients and helps to define solutions that overcome gaps in the customer journey. He led the implementation of several "first-of-its-kind" solution architectures in the areas of customer engagement, network policy management, text to 9-1-1, and electronic credentialing. Jay is a frequent presenter at industry events such as Chartwell, EUCI, NENA, and APCO and participates in the development of industry standards. He has first authored numerous white papers and scientific articles in the leading trade and technical publications.

Join us for an insightful presentation by Chris Gersch, CEO of Verde Solutions and Associate Professor at the University of Chicago, on the critical importance of integrating battery technology with solar systems. In this session, Chris and his lead engineer at Verde Solutions will discuss how the right incentives make battery storage an intelligent investment, enabling companies to achieve true energy independence. He will explain why utilities need private businesses to invest in batteries to manage increased peak load events and growing demand. This presentation will highlight the transformative impact of battery storage and solar technology on creating resilient, sustainable smart cities in 2024.
Biography:
Mr. Christopher Gersch brings over 20 years of professional leadership experience and a dynamic understanding of energy markets to the clean energy industry. He began his career as a trader at the Chicago Board of Trade. Then he utilized his expertise to form eleven businesses, including Verde Solutions, Navigate Power, RxSun, and Fresh Coast Solar. As a philanthropist and an active member of his community, he is an executive board member for the Charles Tillman Cornerstone Foundation and Digs for Dignity, a member of the Catholic Covenant Energies Advisory Board, and a director at Large for The Energy Professionals Association (TEPA). In addition to his extensive commitment to community engagement and philanthropy, Mr. Gersch is proud to be recognized as a distinguished member of the National Small Business Association (NSBA) Leadership Council. Leveraging his expertise in business and leadership, he actively contributes to shaping policies and initiatives that support the growth and success of small businesses nationwide. Mr. Gersch is an adjunct professor at the University of Chicago, designing and teaching quantitative trading strategies and algorithmic system modeling. He often appears as an expert guest speaker for CNBC, Bloomberg, CNN, and Fox Business News. In 2023, he was named one of Crain’s Chicago Business’ Notable Leaders in Sustainability. Mr. Gersch graduated Magna Cum Laude with a B.S. in Aerospace from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and is a licensed multi-engine commercial pilot.
