Minutes of the meeting:
- Introduction of the board members
- Decide regular meeting time slot and interval:
- Regular meeting every 4 weeks
- Possible to hold urgent matters or smaller circles more frequently, if needed
- Agreed time slot: Thursday, 27th June at 11 am and then every 4 weeks
- Open Discussion and Ideas-sharing:
- Who is really committed to working on the chapter?
- Saad: low to mid-level time effort for the whole duration of the board; mid to high time effort of a limited period (conference administration)
- Ayesha: hosting experience and happy to contribute; unavailable for a couple of weeks but largely flexible
- Christof: devote a considerable amount of time, however, remote
- Kawa: committed to less time and efficient effort contribution; make the CS Germany Section prominent
(Alex had to leave the meeting at this point)
- What does each board member think of the responsibilities/activities related to their role?
- Clarity of role to work as a team
TODO for all the members to look at the IEEE resources - Where should the IEEE Computer Society Germany Section stand after 1 year?
- Make C16 visible
- Regular engagement with members
- Not only reach out to existing members but also to engage potential new members
- Market IEEE resources to potential new members
- Clarity of role to work as a team
A topic of common interest was added to the meeting agenda at number 4.
- Meeting with IEEE CS Global on Friday at 18:00 CEST
- Kawa has been invited and he has requested the organizers to send invitations to all C16 board members.
The following agenda topics couldn’t be taken up for discussion due to lack of time, however, the inputs from members (received before the meeting) have been added to the minutes. The chapter chair proposed further alignment on these topics by hosting the document online
and making it accessible to all the members.
- Support Channels:
- There seems to be a conference, where all the chapters locate their events.
- How can the IEEE Germany Section and IEEE Computer Society (Global) support
the C16 activities?
- Alignment on activities streams and further steps (20 min):
- Awards for bachelor, master, and Ph.D.
- Virtual Labs
- Hackathons etc.
- Science meets business days
- Maybe a journal from our chapter in cooperation with IEEE CS.
- Technical lectures/webinars
- Social meetups
- Technical Conference
- Engagement with IEEE students’ chapters and universities
