Abstract of the talk:
A glimpse into the process of designing robot software, featuring Stretch, the warehouse automation product from Boston Dynamics. Let's explore some nuances of creating autonomous behaviors, such as structuring complex behaviors, handling failures smartly, and prioritizing safety! Lastly, outside of robotics, a few learnings are relevant to graduate school and beyond.

Short Bio:
Jhanani Selvakumar is from Namakkal, Tamil Nadu. She is a robotics software engineer at Boston Dynamics. She obtained her doctorate in 2018 from The University of Texas at Austin, focused on path planning using elements of differential game theory. Her academic journey consisted of a Master's degree from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, and a Bachelor's degree from the Madras Institute of Technology, Chennai, both in Aerospace Engineering. In her spare time, she enjoys performing arts, playing with her dog, and exploring DIY projects.
