IEEE Kansai Section Young Professionals Affinity Group (IEEE Kansai YP) was established on Sept. 23, 2014, and is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year. To commemorate this milestone, we will hold a special talk event with four past Chairs, who will look back on their past activities and talk about how YP activities have influenced their careers.
This event will be a valuable opportunity to think about the prospects of YP activities. We look forward to seeing you at this event, whether you have attended one or more of our past YP events or are just interested in our future YP activities.

Prof. Takeshi Kumaki of Ritsumeikan University

Biography:

Takeshi Kumaki received his B.S. in Mathematics from the National Defense Academy of Japan in 1998, his M.S. in Mathematics and Computer Science in 2003, and his Ph.D. in Semiconductor Electronics from Hiroshima University in 2006. He served in the Japan Air Self-Defense Force and later worked as a researcher at Hiroshima University. Since 2010, he has held various academic positions at Ritsumeikan University, where he is currently a Professor in the Department of Electronic and Computer Engineering.

Prof. Shintaro Izumi of Kobe University

Biography:

Shintaro Izumi received his Ph.D. degree in Engineering from Kobe University in 2011. He was a JSPS Research Fellow at Kobe University from 2009 to 2011. He then served as an Assistant Professor in the Organization of Advanced Science and Technology at Kobe University from 2011 to 2018, and as an Associate Professor at the Institute of Scientific and Industrial Research at Osaka University from 2018 to 2019. From 2019 to 2022, he was an Associate Professor in the Graduate School of System Informatics, Kobe University. He co-founded Osaka Heat Cool Inc. in 2019 and currently serves on its board of directors. Since 2022, he has been an Associate Professor in the Graduate School of Science, Technology and Innovation, Kobe University, Japan. His research interests include biomedical signal processing, communication protocols, circuit design, and sensor networks.


Prof. Akinori Ihara of Wakayama University

Biography:

Akinori Ihara received his B.E. from Ryukoku University in 2007 and M.E. and Ph.D. degrees from Nara Institute of Science and Technology in 2009 and 2012, respectively. He is currently an Associate Professor at Wakayama University in the Faculty of System Engineering, focusing on software engineering and mining software repositories. He has held various academic positions, including Assistant Professor at NAIST and Visiting Researcher at Queen's University. His research interests span software reliability and co-evolution of open-source software and communities.

Prof. Jun Shiomi of Osaka University

Biography:

Jun Shiomi received his B.E. degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering and M.E. and Ph.D. degrees in Informatics from Kyoto University in 2014, 2016, and 2017, respectively. From 2016 to 2017, he was a JSPS Research Fellow. From 2017 to 2021, he was an Assistant Professor at Kyoto University, and in 2021, he joined Osaka University as an Associate Professor in the Graduate School of Information Science and Technology. His research focuses on modeling and computer-aided design for low-power system-on-chips. He became a Senior Member of IEEE in 2023. He has served in leadership roles such as YP Coordinator for IEEE Japan Council and Secretary of the IEEE Circuits and Systems Society Kansai Chapter. He has also contributed to organizing major IEEE conferences like ASP-DAC, DAC, and ICCAD
