A two-day workshop on 'Smart Living: Harnessing Sensor Fusion for Home Automation' was organised by IEEE JUIT SB in collaboration with IEEE Region 10 Educational Activities Committee and IEEE Delhi Section on August 22-23, 2024, at Jaypee University of Information Technology (JUIT), Solan, Himachal Pradesh, India.

The workshop aimed to give participants an in-depth understanding of sensor fusion technology and its applications in creating smart, automated home environments that helps in start up or entrepreneur ship. The event covered a wide range of topics, from the basics of sensor technology to advanced integration techniques for building efficient home automation systems.

Day 1: Inauguration and Introduction to Sensor Fusion

The event commenced with an in-depth overview of sensor fusion, aimed at giving participants a solid grasp of the fundamentals. Dr. Vikas Baghel, Department of Electronics & Communication Engineering at JUIT discussed various sensor types, including temperature, humidity, motion, and light sensors, and explained how integrating these sensors can improve data accuracy and system dependability.

Day 2: Hands-on Sessions

The second day concentrated on applying the concepts learned on Day 1 through practical exercises and interactive sessions. Dr. Emjee Puthooran, Alumunus IIT Roorkee introduced participants to real-world scenarios where sensor fusion could be implemented to enhance home automation systems. He discussed Step-by-step guidance on integrating sensors with microcontrollers to build a basic home automation system and detailed analysis of successful smart home project that have utilized sensor fusion technology

PRIZES TO THE WINNERS

1st prize was begged by Preetimay Patel, 2nd prize to Harsh Vardhan and 3rd prize to Divyansh Goel.

FEEDBACK BY PARTICIPANTS :

Lakshay Goyal: "The automation workshop was truly a valuable experience. The way complex topics were broken down into simple, digestible parts made everything so much easier to grasp."

Priyanjali: "The automation workshop was exactly what I needed. The sessions were engaging, and the professors made sure everyone was on the same page."
