ComFix 2024 is an innovative communication technology ideathon organized by the IEEE Communications Society Student Branch Chapter of the University of Moratuwa. Our mission is to foster creative thinking and enhance the technological skills of undergraduates by challenging them to address real world problems through the application of communication technology. This competition consisted of three main stages.
In the first stage, participants (either individual or group) must identify a real world issue that can be effectively addressed using communication technology. The identified problem can span various sectors such as agriculture, transportation, education, climate change, industrial applications, medicine and science. After successfully completing the next stage, selected participants are required to develop a novel and practical solution. This stage focused on planning the implementation, evaluating alternatives and considering the feasibility of the solution. Participants must clearly demonstrate how communication technology will be incorporated into their solution.
In final sage, 10 teams from stage 2 will advance to the final stage, where they will present their solutions to an expert panel. This presentation should encapsulate the entire journey from problem identification to the proposed solution, highlighting the role of communication technology, feasibility, challenges and potential impact. Top three teams were selected and announced as the winners of the ideathon.
