Seminar on "Modern Approach towards the Placements & Internships"
On October 1, 2024 on the ocassion of IEEE day, our IEEE Student Branch STB30721 - V.P. Dr PG Hallakatti College of Eng & Tech is celebrating IEEE WEEK from 1st October to 5th October on that occassion, The Seminar on "Modern Approach towards Placements & Internships" was organized, targeting final-year students to provide them with critical insights into navigating the ever-evolving job market. As the job landscape continues to shift with technological advancements, this seminar aimed to offer students actionable knowledge on how to secure successful placements and internships in today’s highly competitive environment.
The session was led by Mr. AbuSufiyan Maniyar, an industry expert with significant experience in Software-Defined Wide Area Network (SD-WAN) technology. Currently working as an SD2 and SD-WAN engineer at Versa Networks, Bangalore, Mr. Maniyar shared his real-world experience in the software and networking industries, providing invaluable insights to the attendees. His educational background in Computer Science Engineering and ongoing pursuit of a diploma in System Design further highlighted his credibility as a mentor for the students aspiring to enter technical fields.
The seminar primarily focused on the following aspects:
Modern Strategies for Securing Placements: A step-by-step guide to preparing for technical and non-technical interviews, building strong resumes, and approaching placement processes with a strategic mindset.
Internship Opportunities: Emphasis on the importance of internships as gateways to full-time roles, the types of internships available in the tech industry, and how to make the most of internship experiences.
Industry Expectations: Mr. Maniyar shed light on the skills and knowledge that industry leaders are currently prioritizing. This included essential programming languages, problem-solving capabilities, familiarity with cloud technologies, and more.
Preparing for the Future: With the world increasingly leaning toward automation, digital transformation, and AI-driven processes, students were encouraged to stay updated on the latest technologies and continuously upskill themselves.
A particularly engaging portion of the event was the interactive Q&A session, where students posed questions regarding placement strategies, interview tips, technical certifications, and resume-building practices. Mr. Maniyar answered questions in detail, offering tailored advice based on the students' queries and providing tips on navigating the placement and internship processes effectively.
Throughout the event, the emphasis was placed not only on academic achievements but also on soft skills, networking, and the ability to adapt to dynamic work environments. Mr. Maniyar's advice regarding maintaining an online portfolio and leveraging platforms like LinkedIn to connect with recruiters added an extra layer of practical guidance for students keen to enter the job market with confidence.
This technical seminar was designed as a non-competitive learning platform, allowing students to gain knowledge without the pressure of assessments or rounds. Instead, the focus was on providing students with tools to build their career paths effectively.
At the end of the session, all participants were provided with participation certificates as a token of their involvement in the event. These certificates not only reflected their participation but also symbolized their commitment to learning and preparing for their professional journey.
The seminar was highly appreciated by students, with several attendees noting how relevant and practical the advice was in the current job market scenario. Many students expressed their gratitude for the detailed discussion of topics such as resume building, interview preparations, and the importance of adaptability in the tech field. Attendees also highlighted how the real-world examples shared by Mr. Maniyar helped bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and industry expectations.
The seminar concluded with a note of encouragement from the speaker, urging students to stay determined, continue expanding their skill set, and remain open to new learning opportunities. The IEEE Student Branch extended their heartfelt gratitude to Mr. AbuSufiyan Maniyar for his time and valuable insights, as well as to the organizing committee for making this event a success.
The event is conducted under the guidance of branch counselor prof. Sunanda Alur, Senior IEEE member Dr. Veeresh Gonal , and principal Dr.V.G. Sangam.
